After visiting Niagara Falls multiple times, I’ve put together what I believe is the perfect 2-day itinerary for first-time visitors. It combines the city’s must-see attractions with a few hidden gems while keeping everything walkable and easy to follow.

There’s a reason Niagara Falls welcomes millions of visitors every year. Standing beside the Horseshoe Falls for the first time is incredible, but what surprised me most was how many activities there are beyond simply admiring the waterfalls.

Within just two days you can:

• Ride a boat to the base of the Falls
• Walk beside Class 6 rapids
• Soar over Niagara in a flying theatre
• Glide above the Niagara Whirlpool
• Explore historic tunnels beneath the Falls
• Experience the Falls illuminated at night

Where to Stay in Niagara Falls

Stay close to the falls. If waking up to the sight of the Horseshoe Falls sounds like a dream, the Fallsview area is where you want to be. It’s central, walkable, and puts you steps away from Niagara’s top attractions.

My recommendation is the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel. Located just steps from Niagara Falls, it’s the perfect base for exploring the city’s top attractions on foot. I highly recommend booking a Fallsview Room, where you’ll wake up to breathtaking views of the Horseshoe Falls. I was even able to see the Falls from the bathroom! Its central location, comfortable rooms, and easy access to restaurants and attractions make it an excellent choice for first-time visitors.

A 2-Day Niagara Falls Itinerary

Day 1. Adventure Around the Falls

Whirlpool Aero Car

Start your day at one of Niagara’s most unique attractions: the Whirlpool Aero Car.

This historic cable car glides high above the swirling Niagara Whirlpool, offering incredible views of the powerful rapids below. It’s a short ride, but one of the most scenic experiences in the region.

White Water Walk

Next, head to the White Water Walk.

A short elevator ride takes you down to a wooden boardwalk that runs alongside the Niagara River’s famous Class 6 rapids. Standing this close to the rushing water really puts into perspective just how powerful the river is.

Niagara Parks Power Station & Tunnel

Continue your morning at the Niagara Parks Power Station.

After exploring the beautifully restored hydroelectric station, make your way through the underground tunnel leading to an observation platform overlooking the Horseshoe Falls. The views from here are spectacular and very different from the traditional viewpoints above the Falls.

Lunch at Table Rock House Restaurant

By now you’ll probably be ready for lunch.

Table Rock House Restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Niagara Falls, offering panoramic views of the Horseshoe Falls while you enjoy your meal.

Niagara City Cruise

No first trip to Niagara Falls is complete without boarding the Niagara City Cruise.

This iconic boat tour takes you right to the base of the Horseshoe Falls, where you’ll feel the mist on your face and truly appreciate the immense power of the Falls.

Don’t forget your poncho—you’ll definitely need it!

Check into Sheraton Fallsview Hotel

After a busy afternoon, check into the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel.

I stayed in a Fallsview room, and one of my favourite surprises was that I could see Niagara Falls not only from the room itself but even from the bathroom. Waking up to that view alone made the stay worthwhile.

Niagara Takes Flight

One of Niagara’s newest attractions is Niagara Takes Flight.

This immersive flying theatre takes you on a breathtaking journey over Niagara’s most famous landmarks, giving you a completely different perspective of the region.

Dinner at Queen Victoria Place Restaurant

End the day with dinner overlooking the Falls at Queen Victoria Place Restaurant before heading to your final activity.

Journey Behind the Falls at Night

If you’re visiting during the evening, don’t miss Journey Behind the Falls.

Watching the illuminated Horseshoe Falls from this unique perspective creates an entirely different experience than visiting during the day, and it’s one of the best ways to finish your first day.

Day 2. Nature & Thrills

Butterfly Conservatory

Start your second morning at the Butterfly Conservatory.

Home to thousands of colourful butterflies, this peaceful indoor tropical garden offers a relaxing change of pace after the excitement of Day 1.

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tour

Finish your Niagara Falls adventure with one final adrenaline rush.

The Whirlpool Jet Boat Tour takes you speeding through the Niagara River’s famous rapids for an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for excitement, this attraction easily ranks among my favourites.

Travel Tips for Niagara Falls

• Start your days early to avoid crowds.
• If you’re flying into Toronto, I recommend staying at least 2 nights to comfortably complete this itinerary.
• Wear comfortable walking shoes.
• Bring a waterproof jacket or quick-dry clothing. You’ll get wet on several attractions.
• If you have extra time, add the Zipline to the Falls or a helicopter tour to your itinerary for even more incredible views.
